Taro

Also known as dasheen and coco yam, the tropical and sub-tropical tuber of the plant, "Colocassia antiquorum", brought from South East Asia to the Caribbean as a staple food for slaves. The tubers are boiled, baked or roasted and the leaves are also edible.
